In addition, he has served as an advisor to the East Carolina University marching percussion line. He also teaches many private students. Steve arranges music for the schools he teaches for, and is published by
Row-Loff Productions.

Originally from the southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island areas, Steve began playing at the age of 8 years old. He studied drum set playing with Bobby Carreiro and J. Craig Lilly. In high school Steve was drumline captain for the
Dartmouth High School Drumline under the direction of Tom Aungst. During Steve's high school career, the drumline became WGI World Champions, and Steve created the first "Night of Percussion and Dance," a tradition that continues today. In college, Steve studied percussion with Adam Mason and Jamie Eckert, and had several master classes in ethnic percussion with Lalo Davila, and Paschal Younge.

Steve's playing style fuses the precision of corps-style performance with the flexibility of jazz idioms. This unique stylistic hybrid has made Steve a much sought-after performer and teacher.
